…where will your click take you today?

Free marketing!

In the usual determined fashion, I am about to undergo a bit of a marketing campaign to promote my ebook!  My free business cards were delivered today and look super duper.  Picture to follow shortly…  I’m starting in earnest tonight.  I’m also planning on setting up a JustGiving page so that you can donate to the charity Action on Pre-Eclampsia if you don’t want to read my book.  So come on, folks… help me raise some money and awareness please!

If you haven’t got a kindle, follow this link for the pdf, which can be viewed in adobe reader (free to download to your laptop or pc)  http://www.virtually-all-sorts.co.uk/virtually-all-sorts–everything-ebook.html

Mary Mary, quite contrary.

While enjoying a nice walk with our little bear, she decided she wanted a daisy. No problem. As usual she dropped it and said, “can I want another daisy please mummy.” Cue the usual response from me, “ok but just pick one more. We’re not stopping to pick every single daisy.” Another one was carefully chosen and picked. She got into the pushchair and called the daisy ‘Mary’. It was an unusual one with purple tinged petals. I pushed for a few minutes, lost in my own world when, “Mary… Where’s Mary mummy?”, my nearly 3 year old asked in a panic. Mary was hidden under her leg… Phew! I didn’t fancy having to find another one with purple petals.

Mary survived the journey home but I did insist that she stayed at home instead of go to the childminder’s! I also left strict instructions for hubby NOT to throw away the limp, dehydrated daisy on the kitchen side! Thankfully, Mary wasn’t mentioned anymore after that.

Chuggington…

I sometimes feel like a train… chugging along and not stopping for anyone!  Tonight is one of those nights but you know what?  I love it!  Sure, there are some days/nights when I just say ‘whatever’ to the housework and don’t potter around but sit still.  It always feels odd though, like I should be doing something else.

Maybe the fact that I’m working on my next book (while marketing the first one!) means that I’m not actually tired at the moment.  Just incredibly excited!

I’ve made it through the day without a coffee too!  A couple of years ago I went cold turkey on caffeine (eeek!) due to a very bad water infection which I didn’t want to recur in a hurry.  The doctor suggested cutting out caffeine and fizzy drinks.  So I did.  Just like that.  Without a doubt I do feel tons better when I haven’t had a coffee.  Also the fact that I’ve slept much better the last couple of nights helps to stop me feeling zapped.  Possibly because I’ve been so zonked out from lack of sleep from the heat…

The feeling you get when you’ve achieved something is immense and that’s why I’m working on my next book…  I’m not stopping for anyone J

When you wish you could do more

At 11pm Friday night we were just turning in to go to bed when there was a knock on the front door.  Naturally, we both wondered what was going on.  I looked out of the window and saw a marked police car parked across the drive….

I opened the door and saw an old colleague of mine which was surreal enough  it was.  After a couple of cheery hellos, it was clear this was not a time to chat and catch up.  They were looking for our neighbour whose family member was very ill.  I told them they were not due back for another week and had gone abroad.  I was glad to be able to give them the neighbour’s mobile number and contact details of their close family friend….

There was nothing else we could do.  I didn’t sleep much that night because I was worried abuout them and not knowing the full situatoin made it worse.

24 hours later, there was still no sign of the neighbour.  By 7am though, their car was on their drive.  I was relieved for them and wanted to offer my sympathies.  My first thought was if they had any food in the house.  Having come home a week early, I thought they probably wouldn’t.  At the same time, I didn’t want to intrude.  They had had a parcel delivered so when they came to collect it, I offered our sympathies.  At the first opportunity, I also posted a card through their door with a note to say that they knew where we were.

What else can you say?  Absolutely nothing..

After having delivered the card, I came back into the house and saw our little bear with her daddy having a great time playing!  So you see, the point of this post is not to dwell but to look on the positive of what you’ve got in life, grab it with both hands and live it, damn it!

I feel it in my fingers… I feel it in my toes!

It’s a strange feeling of excitement, nervousness, anxiety and pride when you click your mouse and publish your very own eBook!  That’s exactly what I’ve just done.  I can’t quite believe it!  Let’s hope I raise loads of awareness and money for charity 🙂
My next project is another book called ‘Payslips and playgroup’ which gives practical tips on how to avoid the guilt of being a working parent.  I’ve got the bug now 🙂

… and the carrots still sit in the fridge :s

With 2 weeks off work, I had planned to do so much.  Well, okay so I’m nearly at the end of week 1 and I have done alot of what I had planned.  Although, it’s nice to just go with the flow.  Because I’m launching my eBook tomorrow… not sure if I’ve mentioned it at all… the carrots for the carrot cake still sit waiting patiently in the fridge. Maybe tomorrow.
We’ve done playgroup, a morning out, just the 3 bears, the park, drawing…  we’ve done lots.  Today we’ve been to the park, been down the slide more times than I’ve had hot dinners, had a good potter around in the sandpit and paddling pool and munched away on a picnic at 11.15… because our little bear was hungry and likes sitting on the blue picnic blanket 🙂  Then she asked on the way home what she could have to eat. Her little face fell when I said there was only an orange left.  She shovelled it in at tea time and then asked what else she could have half an hour later!  A mixture of a growth spurt and working up an appetite.
Back to my book.  All I’ve got to do is click on the publish button on my website and the book will appear as if by magic (let’s hope so anyway!!)

It’s the final countdown…!

Who would have thought that I would be so close to publishing my own ebook? There are probably many of you out there who are idly reading this blog post while watching something on tv in the background, feeling lost now that the Olympics have finished. Well there is a way that you can fill your time! On Friday 17th August 2012 my ebook is being published… I have fulfilled a dream, despite what many people probably thought was just a whim and a load of hot air! Rest assured that there will be more information on various social networking sites. This is all about helping other people out by raising awareness, and money for charity. If my book can make just one other pregnancy have a happy ending, I will be even more proud than I already am! ‘Nuff said… For now!
