Hitting the right note…

on June 10, 2013

Yesterday I posted the following status update on facebook: Funny Mummy Moment! Telling mum and dad that our little bear holds her fingerd differently on the piano keys to other children the same age, because shes seen daddy play – dad says “it must be in the genes”. Quick as a flash our bear says “no, im wearing a tshirt!” priceless!!!

…well maybe it is in the genes.

It’s true to say that we’ve encourage our little bear to be creative from newborn.  I took her to music playgroups from a few months old.  I read to her from newborn while I was on maternity leave.  Granted, it was only cloth books and board books but she’s always been surrounded by books.  Now, at nearly 4 years old, she loveds books and visits to the library.  Myself, my sister and my Mum all love books too.  Me and my hubby are firm believers in letting children express themselves through creativity.  For that reason, we’ve encouraged her to play our piano from an early age.  In fact we’ve got a video of her at around 6 months old banging down on the piano keys.  Fast forward to now, and how she hits the keys with more precision.  It’s lovely to see.  She ‘plays’ along with hubby whe he plays ‘Old McDonald’ and other children’s songs.

My good friend has just started his own venture called Orchestrate School of Music.  You can visit his facebook page here.  He says: “I have over 20 years of experience of playing a number of instruments and also in Music theory having worked through the ABRSM theory syllabus.

I am now taking bookings for new students who wish to learn Piano, Keyboard, the niche instrument of electric organ and theory. I am also looking for interest in learning the Alto Saxophone and Trombone for which I will soon be taking bookings.”

So please show him the support he deserves.  Thanks
