Do I wish I had more time?..

mumturnedmom
“I wish I had more time…”
A linky with MumTurnedMom

What does 25/8 mean to you?
To me it means 2 things:
  • That I could do with having an extra hour in each day and an extra day in each week…
  • That my brain never really stops coming up with writing ideas.  Whether it’s ideas for blog posts, short stories, poems… it never really stops ‘brainstorming’!
Let’s go back to the first ‘thing’.  If I lived in a 25/8 world instead of a 24/7 world, what would I do with my extra time?  Like everyone, I wouldn’t have any problem filling it.
But I asked myself this; how about I make the best of the time I’ve got?  How about I just accept that I can’t do everything?  How about I accept that I can’t be everywhere?  How about I just accept that there aren’t enough hours in the day?
How about I just make the best of the time I HAVE got to do ‘stuff’ everyday and stop beating myself up?
How about I just accept that there are 24 hours in a day and 7 days in a week?
Don’t you think it’s about time?

Virtually All Sorts of blogs in the weekly round-up 6

virtually all sorts of blogs weekly round-up 2

It’s time to mention a few blogs that I’ve enjoyed reading in the past week or so…  I hope you like them as much as I did:

First up, grab yourself a cuppa and prepare yourself for a good few belly laughs… this story is amazing, bizarre, surreal and so much fun!  It’s a teamwork effort of many, many bloggers. Thanks to Lynette Noni for ‘sparking’ it off…

Next, a very interesting, factual read about London, including a great little story involving Jack the Ripper… from Jenny Burnley.

Having recently achieved a 25 minute run (comfortably!), I wanted to share this inspiring post about running from MummyDaddyandMeMakesThree.  It fits in nicely with the spirit of my blog because my running makes me feel focused and so much better (along with my meditation).

Devouring blogs through pinterest

Word of the week Pinterest pinning

Hands up/click your mouse/wave your mouse in the air if you love pinterest?  Just as I thought, quite a few!

Well, this week I’ve been enjoying reading blogs (as usual) but I’ve just recently started to share the blogs I enjoy by pinning them to my board ‘Blogs I love and think you will too!’

I find that pinterest is such a wealth of information and entertainment.  And it’s such a shame to ‘just’ like and comment.  It’s so easy to pin a blog post you enjoy, for the rest of the world wide web to enjoy! (pst, my share bar is the bottom of my post!…)

I plan to build my board up over the coming weeks as I devour more blogs…  I hope you will visit my board and follow me, then you can devour them too 🙂

You can also pop by every Sunday (latest post coming later today!) for my round-up of Virtually All Sorts of blogs that I have been reading this week.

It’d be great to share them with you…

In the meantime, my #WordoftheWeek with  The Reading Residence is ‘pinning’.

Here’s how I write what I write…

Bring back paper papery peep

Many moons ago, I wrote about how I write what I write.

With that in mind, I wanted to share a little picture of my notepad, my bulldog clip holding my World of Writing Wad

together and my trusty pen (soon to run out surely?!), although I do also use pencil regularly…

The picture is deceptive because there is a whole wad of paper in there, ‘behind the scenes’.

It really is my www (World of Writing Wad!).

Aside from the fact that many of the notes on said paper are for my blogs, and therefore digitally orientated, it is actually quite ironic that my version of www actually refers to something papery, as opposed to the obvious World Wide Web!

So you see, I am indeed a #PaperyGeekPeep and I say #BringBackPaper!

Where is the beginning? A poem on chakra meditation

lotus the theme game chakra meditation

Where is the beginning?

What’s at the beginning?

It all starts at the root,

When we’re not grounded,

Branches can’t develop their shoots.

~

Our branches need feeding

With healthy, wholesome foods,

If not they imbalance

And affect our moods.

~

When we work from the bottom

And end up at the top,

We have spinning wheels, or

‘chakras’ which never stop…

~

Want to feel peaceful and calm?

Meditate daily, don’t be shy,

And your friends they may comment,

Share the love, tell them why…

~

…Why you’re feeling grounded

And rooted, like a tree to the earth.

Why those positive thoughts and good food

Give a sense of self-worth.

~

…Why you’re feeling creative

Bursting with thoughts and ideas,

As they ebb and flow like the water,

Eroding your fears.

~

…Why your ego’s not ‘pumped up’,

You’re calm and ‘together’,

You don’t listen to the bad things,

You don’t need ‘lucky heather’.

~

…Why your breathing’s steady and easy

While your heart pumps fresh air,

Pure and cleansed through your body,

To keep you alert and ‘all there’.

~

…Why you’re feeling expressive

And you’re speaking your mind,

Being open and clear,

It’s the best way, you will find.

~

…Why your sixth sense is open,

It’s your third eye, you see.

Is your perception of reality

With them or with ‘me’?

~

…Why your crown’s like a flower,

Its stem’s like your spine,

A petal for each chakra

Now you’re upright and ‘aligned’.

~

Now you’re beginning to see

What your thoughts can do,

Breathe slowly, be mindful

That it all starts with you.

Virtually All Sorts of blogs in the weekly round-up 5

virtually all sorts of blogs weekly round-up 2

It’s time to mention a few blogs that I’ve enjoyed reading in the past week or so…  I hope you like them as much as I did:

Is it MollyGoLightly or MollyGoSlightly? Either way, she’s reflecting in her non-rhyming rhyme.

These are profound and simple words that make so much sense from Becky Due about Appreciating the Low.

And finally, whoever would have thought that funerals could be fun?  A humourous but sensitive look at the most sombre of occasions from Big Cheese Dad.  After a recent family bereavement, this really rang true…

Consider if you were in Anne Frank’s shoes…

The theme game Anne frank outdoors

The bookcase door inside Anne Frank Huis, Amsterdam

When I was younger I read ‘The Diary of Anne Frank’ and the story of Miep Gies who helped to hide the Frank family et al.  I was in awe of this young girl who yearned and ached to go outside; yearned and ached to be free.

A few years ago I had the opportunity to visit The Anne Frank House and Museum in Amsterdam.  From the minute I stepped through that concealed entrance and walked up the steps into ‘The Annex’, I was walking in her proverbial shoes (and of the other people she hid with).

I saw where she had lived, saw where she had slept, felt the atmosphere still lingering, looked out of the high window and saw the same bell tower that Anne Frank had seen.

I was humbled.  I was intrigued.  I was sad.  I was claustrophobic.  I was privileged to experience ‘The Annex’ (though not in the same way, thankfully).  I unashamedly shed a tear.     And as our tour came to an end, I walked back down the stairs, back through the concealed entrance, back out of the museum.  I walked back outside.  I was free.

I was free to take in a  lungful of fresh air.  I will try to never take the outdoors for granted again.

Virtually All Sorts of blogs in the weekly round-up 4

virtually all sorts of blogs weekly round-up 2

It’s time to mention a few blogs that I’ve enjoyed reading in the past week or so…  I hope you like them as much as I did:

I’m so very grateful for Sara at MumTurnedMom for posting this.  Not only have I added a couple of books to my reading list, I’ve also discovered loads of reading-related blog memes and linkys.  Yay!  No escuses at all for neglecting them on my blog now… 😉

I just love the imagery in this poem on pedal power from MoonDustWriter…

Finally, I often see a flash fiction post and wish I had thought of it.  This is one of those occasions from Tiffany Metzger.    (psssst, why not have a look at my flash fiction by going to the ‘categories’ section of my sidebar to the right and scrolling down to ‘flash fiction’…)

Chuffed with the puff!

word of the week chuffed

This week’s word has absolutely nothing to do with writing, reading or being creative.

But I had to share it with the world (well, my followers and the bloggers linking up with Word of the Week!…)

5 weeks ago I took up the Couch to 5 k challenge.  This was no mean feat because, truth be told, I’ve never enjoyed running.  But I decided to do something about the sluggish feeling festering and it needed to cost very little money, or better still be free!

When you consider that 5 weeks ago I was hard-pushed to run for 90 seconds and now I’m up to 2 x 10 minute runs… comfortably.  What’s more, I’m even enjoying it!

Yes, when you consider that, you’ll understand why my #WordoftheWeek with  The Reading Residence is ‘chuffed’.

Pop by tomorrow for my round-up of Virtually All Sorts of blogs that I have been reading this week.

It’d be great to share them with you…
